Dr. Paul E. Jacobs Ph.D., has been appointed as Executive Chairman of the Board of Qualcomm Incorporated, Effective March 4, 2014. Dr. Jacobs has served as Chairman of the Board since March 2009, as a director since June 2005 and as Chief Executive Officer since July 2005. He served as Group President of Qualcomm Wireless & Internet from July 2001 to July 2005. In addition, he served as an executive vice president from February 2000 to June 2005. Dr. Jacobs holds a B.S. degree in electrical engineering and computer science, an M.S. degree in electrical engineering and a Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering and computer science from the University of California, Berkeley. We believe Dr. Jacobs’s qualifications to serve on our Board include his extensive business, operational and management experience in the wireless telecommunications industry, including his current position as our Executive Chairman and his prior service as our Chief Executive Officer. His extensive knowledge of our business, products, strategic relationships and opportunities, as well as the rapidly evolving technologies and competitive environment in our industry, bring valuable insights and knowledge to our Board.
