QinetiQ Group plc Directorate Change. Non-executive Director Appointment.

Admiral Sir James Burnell-Nugent KCB, CBE, to retire as Non-executive Director

General Sir Gordon Messenger KCB, DSO and Bar, OBE,

appointed to succeed him

21st September 2020 - QinetiQ Group plc today announced the appointment of General Sir Gordon Messenger KCB, DSO and Bar, and OBE as an independent Non-executive Director to the QinetiQ Board with effect from 12th October 2020. The General will replace Admiral Sir James Burnell-Nugent KCB, CBE, who, after ten years, will step down from the Board at the end of 2020.

General Sir Gordon Messenger served 37 years as a Royal Marine.  Throughout his military career, General Sir Gordon deployed on multiple operational deployments, including in the former Yugoslavia, Iraq and Afghanistan, and undertook actions for which he was highly decorated on numerous occasions. He also served in key appointments in various UK and NATO Headquarters, overseeing the planning and execution of UK and Coalition military and humanitarian relief operations worldwide. Within the UK Ministry of Defence, his roles included the Director Force Development, Director Joint Commitments (Military), Chief of Defence Staff's Strategic Communication Officer, Deputy Chief of Defence Staff (Military Strategy and Operations) and, finally on promotion to General, Vice Chief of the Defence Staff, a position he held for three years until his retirement in 2019.

Chairman of QinetiQ's Board, Neil Johnson, said:

This notice is given in fulfilment of the obligation under paragraph 9.6.11R of the Listing Rules. There are no further details that are required to be disclosed in respect of General Sir Gordon Messenger's appointment under paragraph 9.6.13 of the Listing Rules.

Admiral Sir James Burnell-Nugent has not and will not receive any loss of office payments, nor will he be paid any further remuneration for his service as a Director of QinetiQ Group plc, other than fees due for his services up to the date he leaves.

Fees

General Sir Gordon Messenger's fees will be £52,000 per annum payable from 12 October 2020.
