Barratt to appoint Katie Bickerstaffe and Chris Weston as Independent

Non-Executive Directors with effect from 1 March 2021

 

Barratt Developments PLC ("Barratt") is pleased to announce that, in accordance with its succession plan for Non-Executive Directors, the Board has agreed to appoint Katie Bickerstaffe and Chris Weston as independent Non-Executive Directors of the Company with effect from 1 March 2021. Both Katie and Chris will also join the Audit, Nomination and Remuneration Committees with effect from the same date.

Katie Bickerstaffe was recently appointed Chief Strategy and Transformation Director at Marks and Spencer Group PLC, having previously held a non-executive directorship on its Board since 2018. Katie was also Executive Chair of SSE Energy Services, where she led its separation from SSE plc and subsequent sale to OVO Group Ltd.  She was a non-executive director at SSE Plc from 2011 to 2018 and Chair of SSE Plc's Remuneration Committee from 2015 to 2018. Katie is also a non-executive director of the England and Wales Cricket Board. She brings extensive experience of business transformation in a variety of functions together with considerable marketing expertise.

Chris Weston is currently Chief Executive Officer at Aggreko plc, a position he has held since 2015. Chris has consistently succeeded in driving performance and growth in his career, including as Managing Director, International Downstream at Centrica plc where he was Executive Director responsible for the Group's largest division. He joined Centrica in 2002 after a successful career in the telecoms industry working for both Cable & Wireless Plc and One.Tel. Chris is also a non-executive director of the Royal Navy, a position that he is due to step down from in February 2021.

Pursuant to its obligations under the listing rules of the UK Listing Authority, Barratt confirms that neither Katie Bickerstaffe nor Chris Weston have held any directorships of any publicly quoted companies in the last five years other than those disclosed above. There is no further information which is required to be disclosed pursuant to paragraph LR 9.6.13R.
