The acquisition includes the Broadspan software suite and its core engineering team, a move that significantly accelerates EdgeBeam’s go-to-market strategy by advancing the deployment timeline by multiple quarters and providing a national-scale data distributionnetwork utilizing broadcast infrastructure. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

EdgeBeam addresses congestion at the last mile by operating as a Hybrid Network Operator (HNO), combining the one-to-many efficiency of the ATSC 3.0 broadcast spectrum with the coverage of a traditional ISP (internet service provider). Using Broadspan’s provisioning software and the wide-scale reach of its partners' TV broadcast infrastructure, EdgeBeam transforms existing high-power broadcast towers into a scalable data distribution network. This data path uses multicast technology to bypass cellular bottlenecks, enabling a single transmission to reach unlimited endpoints simultaneously.
