The Gabelli Equity Trust Inc. is a diversified, closed-end management investment company. The Fund's primary investment objective is to achieve long term growth of capital by investing primarily in a portfolio of equity securities consisting of common stock, preferred stock, convertible or exchangeable securities, and warrants and rights to purchase such securities. The Fund's secondary investment objective is income. Under normal market conditions, the Fund invests at least 80% of the value of its total assets in equity securities. The Fund seeks out undervalued companies with greater than average potential for growth. The Fund invests in various sectors, such as financial services, food and beverage, equipment and supplies, health care, diversified industrial, energy and utilities, business services, entertainment, machinery, consumer services, electronics, retail, environmental services, and aerospace and defense.
