Koninklijke Ahold N.V. (Ahold) is engaged in the operation of retail stores in Europe and the United States through subsidiaries and joint ventures. The Company operates through three segments: Ahold USA, The Netherlands and Czech Republic. In addition, Other retail consisting of Ahold's joint venture JMR and Ahold's Corporate Center. JMR operates food retail stores in Portugal under the brand name Pingo Doce. Pingo Doce is the supermarket chain in Portugal. Its Ahold USA segment includes Stop & Shop in New England, Stop & Shop in New York Metro, Giant Landover and Giant Carlisle, which are supermarket brands, and Peapod, which is an online grocery service store. Its Netherlands segment includes Albert Heijn, which is a supermarket and online food retailer; Etos, which is a drugstore chain; Gall & Gall, which is a wine and liquor retailer, and bol.com, which is an online retailer. Its Czech Republic segment includes food retail brand, Albert.
