Charitable Contribution
Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (KS005930, KS005935, SMSN, SMSD) ("SEC") on October 28, 2021 announced that its Board of Directors has authorized the following contributions.
Sponsorship of WorldSkills International
SEC will provide EUR 1.5 million (approximately KRW 2.09 billion) to WorldSkills Shanghai 2022 and the Organizing Committee of WorldSkills International as a global social contribution to nurture future talent who will contribute to global industrial development.
Contribution to Joint Investment Technology Development Agreement Fund
SEC will contribute KRW 15 billion (KRW 3 billion each year from 2022 to 2026) to the Joint Investment Technology Development Agreement Fund to participate in the Joint Investment Technology Development Project created by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups ("Ministry"). The fund will be created under the Ministry by the Korea Foundation for Cooperation of Large & Small Business, Rural Affairs with the Ministry contributing KRW 15 billion to match SEC's contribution, and the funds will be allocated to chosen SMEs based on results of evaluations of tasks given by the Ministry. The tasks will be related to robotics, AI, biohealth, system semiconductors, and domestic production of materials, parts, and equipment.
