About the company

Fernheizwerk Neukoelln AG is a Germany-based provider of district heating. The Company's district heating system is a network of underground pipes that pump steam and hot water around the district. The steam and water are by-products from the generation of electricity at the local coal-fired cogeneration power station. Its network is comprised of 88.1 kilometers of piping and 1,023 district heating stations. Its buildings have access via basement delivery stations, from which hot water is pumped around radiators. The system is fully automated so that the level of heating provided is appropriate according to the atmospheric temperature. The Company offers its services to approximately 36,000 clients, including Neukoelln's department stores, hotels, industrial and private customers as well as public institutions.
