ANNOUNCEMENT ON KEY OPERATING DATA OF OCTOBER 2019

 

The enclosed announcement (the "SSE Announcement") was published by Air China Limited (the "Air China") on the Shanghai Stock Exchange on 15 November 2019, which contains combined operating data for October 2019 for Air China and its subsidiaries (collectively, the "Group"). This announcement enclosing the SSE Announcement is made by Air China pursuant to Rule 13.10B of the Rules Governing the Listing of Securities on the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited.

 

The data in the enclosed SSE Announcement was calculated based on the internal statistics of the Group, which may differ from the data disclosed in the relative periodic reports. ANNOUNCEMENT ON KEY OPERATING DATA OF OCTOBER 2019

 

In October 2019, Air China Limited (the "Company"), and its subsidiaries (the "Group") maintained growth in combined passenger traffic (measured by revenue passenger kilometers (the "RPK")) as compared to the same period last year and to the same period last month. Passenger capacity (measured by available seat kilometers (the "ASK")) and passenger traffic recorded a year-on-year increase of 2.0% and 2.8% respectively. For domestic routes, both of passenger capacity and passenger traffic increased by 2.8% as compared to the same period last year. For international routes, passenger capacity and passenger traffic increased by 1.4% and 4.6% respectively, as compared to the same period last year. Passenger capacity on regional routes decreased by 3.8%, and passenger traffic recorded a decrease of 14.1%, as compared to the same period last year. The overall passenger load factor was 81.6%, representing an increase of 0.6 percentage points as compared to the same period last year. The domestic routes remained the same year-on-year, the international routes increased by 2.4 percentage points and the passenger load factor for regional routes decreased by 8.3 percentage points.

 

In terms of cargo operations, in October 2019, cargo capacity (measured by available freight tonne kilometers (the "AFTK")) decreased by 3.9% year-on-year. Cargo and mail traffic (measured by revenue freight tonne kilometers (the "RFTK")) decreased by 6.3% as compared to the same period last year, the volume of cargo and mail carried decreased by 2.5% as compared to the same period last year. The cargo load factor was 46.0%, representing a year-on-year decrease of 1.2 percentage points.

 

The Nanchang-Beihai route (seven shifts per week), the Nanchang-Lanzhou route (seven shifts per week), the Boao-Taiyuan route (seven shifts per week), the Hangzhou-Hohhot-Hailar route (seven shifts per week), the Hefei-Xi'An route (seven shifts per week), the Zhengzhou-Yinchuan route (seven shifts per week), the Changchun-Wenzhou route (seven shifts per week) and the Wenzhou-Linfen-Yinchuan route (seven shifts per week) were launched on 27 October 2019. The Guiyang-Taiyuan-Dalian route (three shifts per week) was launched on 29 October 2019.

 

In October 2019, the Group introduced two A320 series aircraft and retired two B737-800 aircraft. As at the end of October 2019, the Group operated a fleet of 680 aircraft, including 286 self-owned aircraft, 196 aircraft under finance lease and 198 aircraft under operating lease.
