Centrica appoints a Non-Executive Director

Centrica plc is pleased to announce the appointment of Heidi Mottram as a Non-Executive Director with effect from 1 January 2020.  On appointment, Ms Mottram will also become a member of the Safety, Health, Environment, Security and Ethics Committee, and the Nominations Committee.

Commenting on Ms Mottram's appointment, Charles Berry, Chairman of Centrica, said, "I am delighted to welcome Heidi to the Board of Centrica. She brings considerable relevant strategic and operational experience acquired in her current and previous roles. Her deep understanding of the importance of customer service, delivered in complex multi-stakeholder environments with a high public profile, is particularly pertinent to Centrica, at this time, as it focuses on the delivery of its customer-centric strategy."

There are no additional details to disclose under Listing Rule 9.6.13 R in respect of the appointment of Ms Mottram.

Notes to editors:

Heidi Mottram has been CEO of Northumbrian Water Limited and Northumbrian Water Group Limited since 2010.  Previously, she was Managing Director of Northern Rail from 2004, and before that she was Commercial Director of Arriva Trains Northern and Operations Director of Midland Mainline Limited from 1999 to 2003.  Prior to that she held a number of senior positions in the rail industry.

Ms Mottram is Vice-Chair of the North East Local Enterprise Partnership, a member of the CBI Board and Vice-Chair of Newcastle University Council.

Ms Mottram was named North East Business Executive of the Year in 2017 recognising her significant contribution to business in the north east of England. She was awarded an OBE in 2010 for services to the rail industry and a CBE in 2018 for services to the water industry and business community.
