Direct Line Group Chairman succession

The Direct Line Insurance Group plc ('DLG') Board announces that, following a full search process, it has selected Danuta Gray, Non-Executive Director and Chair of the Remuneration Committee, to succeed Mike Biggs as Chair with effect from 4 August 2020.

Danuta is currently also Chair of St. Modwen Properties PLC, Senior Independent Director of Aldermore Group plc and a Non-Executive Member of the Defence Board of the UK Ministry of Defence. She is a former non-executive director of Old Mutual Group plc, PageGroup plc and Paddy Power Betfair plc. Her executive career in the telecommunications sector culminated in her appointment as Chief Executive and subsequently Executive Chairman of Telefónica O2 Ireland.

Commenting on her appointment, Danuta Gray said: 'I am honoured to have been chosen by my fellow DLG Board members to succeed Mike as Chair. DLG is a strong business with a superb culture, driven by a talented management team and outstanding, dedicated people. Mike Biggs, Chairman, said: 'I am very pleased that my colleagues on the DLG Board have chosen Danuta to succeed me. She has all of the skills and experience to preserve and develop the enviable culture of the Group and the Board.'

An announcement about the succession plan for the chairmanship of the Remuneration Committee will be made in due course.
