Appointment of Chairman Designate and Non-Executive Director

DS Smith Plc today announces the appointment of Geoff Drabble to the Company's Board as Chairman Designate and a Non-Executive Director with effect from 1 September 2020. His election will be put to the September 2020 AGM for approval in the normal manner and he will succeed Gareth Davis as Chairman on 3 January 2021 when, as previously announced, Gareth will retire from the Board.

Geoff served for 12 years as Chief Executive of Ashtead Group plc, the FTSE 100 industrial equipment rental company. He was previously an executive director of The Laird Group plc and held a number of senior management positions at Black & Decker. Geoff is also Non-Executive Chairman of Ferguson plc and a Non-Executive Director of Howden Joinery Group Plc.

Gareth Davis has served as a Non-Executive Director of DS Smith for 10 years including nearly nine years as the Company's Chairman. During this period, DS Smith has grown organically and via acquisition into a global leader in sustainable packaging, creating significant shareholder value.

Geoff will also join the Nomination and Remuneration Committees of the Board, chairing the former from Gareth's retirement.

There is no other information that is required to be disclosed under Listing Rule 9.6.13R of the UK Listing Authority.
