JPMORGAN SMALLER COMPANIES INVESTMENT TRUST PLC

APPOINTMENT OF DIRECTOR

As part of its succession planning and in anticipation of the retirement of Mr Andrew Robson as Chair of the Audit Committee, the Board of JPMorgan Smaller Companies Investment Trust plc (the 'Company') is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Gordon Humphries as an independent non-executive Director of the Company with effect from 1st July 2020.  Upon the retirement of Mr Robson following the next Annual General meeting, Mr Humphries will be appointed as Chair of the Audit Committee.

Mr Humphries is currently a Director and Chairman of the Audit and Nomination Committees for Foresight VCT plc and Director and Chairman of the Audit and Risk Committees for Maven Income & Growth VCT 5 plc. 

Mr Humphries is a Chartered Accountant and commenced his career at PwC and then moved to F&C Asset Management where he worked for over 19 years, latterly as Joint Head of Investment Trusts.  During this period he was responsible for business development, company secretarial and accounting services for a diverse range of investment trust clients. Following this, Mr Humphries was appointed as a member of the Audit and Assurance Committee for ICAS and then as an Investment Director and Head of Investment Companies at Standard Life Investments, responsible for its investment company business.

Commenting on the appointment Mr Andrew Impey stated:

'Gordon has more than 30 years of investment trust experience, including responsibilities in the areas of risk management and controls processes, company secretarial and corporate finance, and we look forward to the contribution that he will make to the Board.'

Mr Humpries does not currently hold any shares in the Company.

There is no further information to be disclosed under UKLA's Listing Rule 9.6.13 R (2) to (6) for Mr Humphries.
