Speedy Hire Ranked in Top 1% of Sustainable Businesses Globally

Speedy Hire, the UK and Ireland's leading provider of tools, specialist equipment and services, has been awarded a Platinum Medal for the quality of its sustainability credentials by EcoVadis, the world's most trusted provider of business sustainability ratings.

The coveted Platinum Medal is the highest accolade awarded by EcoVadis and places Speedy Hire in the top 1% of companies it assesses and ranks, which includes over 85,000 businesses worldwide. This award is an improvement on the Gold Medal Speedy Hire received previously, which placed it in the top 5% of companies globally.

The EcoVadis assessment evaluates 21 sustainability criteria across four core themes: Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement. The rating system is based on internationally recognised principles and standards, such as the Global Reporting Initiative and the UN Global Compact, that Speedy Hire is aligned to.

Decade to Deliver

As part of its wider 'Decade to Deliver' ESG strategy, Speedy Hire has set targets to achieve net-zero emissions by 2040, ten years ahead of the UK government deadline. Carbon emissions emitted by Speedy Hire in the UK and Ireland reduced by 21.4% in FY2024, achieved through the procurement and organic generation of renewable energy, investment into a greener property network, a more efficient electric and hybrid vehicle fleet and the use of HVO fuel in larger vehicles.

Speedy Hire also collaborates closely with partners throughout its supply chain to innovate and deliver first-to-market solutions that reduce carbon emissions and accelerate the delivery of sustainability for customers, people, communities, and the planet.

Dan Evans, Chief Executive at Speedy Hire, said:

"At Speedy Hire, we place sustainability at the centre of everything that we do, and this prestigious EcoVadis Platinum Medal award is testament to our credentials as a sustainability leader. This award further demonstrates progress against our ambitious Velocity strategy, which focuses on driving innovation and providing the commercially sustainable solutions our customers require to achieve their net zero ambitions."
