Sir Alex Chisholm to join BT Group Board

 

BT Group plc ("BT Group") hereby announces that Sir Alex Chisholm will join the Board as an Independent Non-Executive Director with immediate effect. Sir Alex will become a member of the Audit & Risk, Nominations and Responsible Business Committees. He will also become our Designated Non-Executive Director for Ofcom Engagement.

Sir Alex brings a wealth of regulatory, government and business expertise gained over 30 years. Most recently, he was Chief Operating Officer for the UK Civil Service and Permanent Secretary in the Cabinet Office.  He is currently Non-Executive Chair of EDF Energy.

Sir Alex added "I am pleased to be joining the BT Group Board and I am looking forward to using the lessons and experience gained from my prior roles to contribute to the Board's discussions and decision-making."

This planned role has been reviewed by HM Government's Advisory Committee on Business Appointments (ACOBA). BT Group and Sir Alex have confirmed their acceptance of the ACOBA conditions published on www.gov.uk

There are no additional matters that would require disclosure in respect of Sir Alex Chisholm or pursuant to 9.6.13R of the Listing Rules of the UK Financial Conduct Authority.

Sir Alex Chisholm's biography

Sir Alex has a wealth of regulatory, government and business expertise gained over 30 years. He is currently Non-Executive Chair of EDF Energy. From 2020 to 2024, Sir Alex was Chief Operating Officer for the UK Civil Service and Permanent Secretary in the Cabinet Office. Prior to this, he was Permanent Secretary of the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), Chief Executive of the Competition and Markets Authority and Chairperson of the Commission for Communications Regulation (Ireland). In the earlier part of his career, he held a number of other non-government roles in the media, technology, ecommerce and retail sectors.
