Project to recycle 4,000 lithium-ion battery modules

Completed recycling programme for 4,000 spent Li-ion battery modules from electric vehicles, which were stored and transported using LiBox containers

Technology Minerals Plc (LSE: TM1), the first listed UK company focused on creating a sustainable circular economy for battery metals, is pleased to announce that its 48.35% owned battery recycling business, Recyclus Group Ltd ("Recyclus") has completed a 10-week programme with a leading engineering services and technology company, successfully recycling 4,000 end-of-life lithium-ion ("Li-ion") battery modules sourced from electric vehicles.

Under the terms of the agreement, the Li-ion battery modules were sent to Recyclus' industrial-scale Li-ion recycling facility over an initial ten-week project. The battery modules were safely stored and transported using Recyclus' UN-certified and ADR compliant proprietary LiBox containers, providing an end-to-end solution for their end-of-life Li-ion batteries. Recyclus leased its LiBox boxes to the partner and received gate fees for the processing of the battery modules.

Recyclus offers a cradle-to-cradle solution, addressing the challenges posed by the increasing volumes of end-of-life Li-ion batteries resulting from the global shift towards electrification. The Wolverhampton industrial scale recycling facility is the first of its kind in the UK, while the proprietary Li-ion battery storage boxes, LiBox, ensure the safe transportation and storage of Li-ion batteries.

Robin Brundle, Chairman of Technology Minerals and Director of Recyclus, said: "We are proud to help tackle the increasing volumes of end-of-life Li-ion batteries that have emerged in the transition to electrification. Successfully delivering this project to recycle 4,000 Li-ion battery modules from a major player in this field is a testament to our ability to become the go-to provider to store, transport and recycle Li-ion batteries on an industrial scale."
