Successful Installation of 4-MWh BESS
Planning commences for additional larger BESS projects
Gelion (AIM: GELN), the global energy storage innovator, announces the successful installation of the 4-megawatt hour (MWh) battery energy storage systems (BESS) for Group Energy Pty Ltd (a Borg Group company). Further to the announcement made in April 2025, the BESSs have now progressed to advanced commissioning stage, in preparation for live operations.
Highlights
· Successful installation and advanced commissioning stage of two 2MWh BESSs at Borg Group sites in Somersby and Charmhaven near Sydney, Australia. · 92.5% revenue, approximately £900k recognised in FY2025[1], with the remainder £65k to be recognised in July 2025 (FY2026). · Gelion and Group Energy have commenced planning and business case development for additional larger BESS on Borg's sites. · Gelion is growing its BESS pipeline across multiple sectors, including Industrial, Consumer business, Education and Utility companies.

Gelion CEO, John Wood, commented:
"It's fantastic to see Gelion's BESS in the final stages of commissioning at Borg's sites. Our teams have worked very closely together to rapidly progress this important project. It is also exciting for Gelion to be working closely with Group Energy to define their next potential scaled up BESS for the Group while in parallel, our Integration team are growing a healthy pipeline of BESS opportunities in the Australian market."
Borg Group Managing Director, John Borg, added:
"Gelion has demonstrated strong integration expertise and capability during the project. Group Energy is looking forward to operating the BESS units which will start delivering the projected electricity cost and sustainability benefits in the near term. As we review and assess the BESS's operational performance and commercial returns, we will then shore up our plans for additional BESS units to be deployed across our business."

Borg Group BESS Implementations
The BESS are in the final stages of commissioning and are each rated at 1 MW / 2 MWh. By charging at times of high solar production and discharging when demand is high, these batteries will save significant energy costs to Borg Group. The batteries will also reduce the peak demand from the grid, further reducing Borg Group's energy costs. The batteries will provide additional benefits to help stabilise the broader energy network, such as frequency response services. This includes Very Fast Frequency Control Ancillary Services (VF FCAS).
