Houston-Based TAS Concrete Crowned Sakrete’s Ultimate Concrete Champions in Concrete Combat Season 2

Aldo Chavez and Julio Chavez of TAS defeat seven teams to win grand prize

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Apr. 30, 2025-- Sakrete, Oldcastle APG’s leading bagged concrete materials brand, announces the winners of the second season of its reality competition show, Concrete Combat. Aldo Chavez and Julio Chavez of Houston-based TAS Concrete surpassed seven teams to win $10,000, a trip to World of Concrete 2025 and the coveted title of Concrete Combat Champions.

Season 2 of Concrete Combat presented a gauntlet of challenges to its eight teams of professional contractors. Utilizing Sakrete bagged concrete materials and other supplies from Oldcastle APG brands, including Belgard hardscapes, the contestants proved their skills on projects ranging from repair jobs and slab pours to finishing an outdoor kitchen and building a skate ramp. Aldo and Julio aced their first challenge in the Concrete Coliseum, survived the semifinal skate park battle royale and clinched the win by going back to basics in an intense finale.

“Concrete Combat is no easy competition. With the team and time constraints, even our most seasoned competitors can struggle to complete a project that will hold up to our judges’ high standards,” said Dave Jackson, Senior Brand Manager, Sakrete. “Aldo Chavez and Julio Chavez represent the best of the best of concrete professionals. They rose to the occasion in each challenge, demonstrating polished skills and determination. We’re proud to crown them the Season 2 Champions.”

Kicking off Season 2, Aldo and Julio faced off against the Collective Concrete team, expertly repairing a set of concrete stairs and advancing to the semifinal – an on-site build at The Pantry, a DIY skatepark in Atlanta. There, the remaining four teams, including Padrón Building Company and returning champions Concrete Mike LLC, competed to build and finish a 3-by-10-foot quarterpipe in under four hours. After intense deliberation by the judges, Aldo and Julio were selected to compete in the finale against Matt Jordan and Adam Calderwood of Grindline Skateparks.

In the “Slab Pour Showdown,” the TAS Concrete and Grindline Skateparks teams went head-to-head on a fan-favorite challenge from Season 1: the sidewalk pour. With both speed and quality of their pour contributing to the final score, the challenge put the teams’ essential skills to the test. After careful deliberation, judges crowned Aldo Chavez and Julio Chavez Concrete Combat Champions.

“The TAS Concrete team brought their A-game to this competition. Aldo and Julio should be very proud of their work and well-deserved win,” said judge Dirk Tharpe, Sakrete Territory Sales Manager at Oldcastle APG. “Concrete Combat is, at its core, a celebration of tradesmen and women and the talent and grit we see on job sites every day. It was an honor to return for Season 2 and join Sakrete in elevating our industry.”

Dirk Tharpe returned to judge Concrete Combat Season 2 alongside Mike Day, owner of Day’s Concrete Floors and host of All About Concrete. New to the panel this season were Jose Garcia, celebrated contracting influencer and owner of Garcia Concrete LLC, and Pat McClain, owner of Chihuahua Custom Concrete. Together, the judging panel holds 103 years of combined experience in the concrete industry, lending critical insight to their evaluations throughout the season.

“From our highly experienced panel of judges to our capable teams of competitors, Season 2 of Concrete Combat has been a showcase of the deep technical expertise held by contracting professionals,” said Jackson. “We hope viewers will join us in celebrating not just our Champions Aldo Chavez and Julio Chavez, but all of our competing teams and the concrete industry as a whole.”

Season 2 of Concrete Combat is available now on Roku TV and the Sakrete YouTube channel. Season 1 of Concrete Combat is also available on YouTube.
