DETROIT
, May 6, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Hyundai Motor America is proud to reinforce its commitment to community well-being and continue its partnership with Children's Hospital of Michigan through the Children's Foundation, donating $25,000 to the Injury Prevention Program. As part of the corporate social responsibility initiative, Hyundai Hope, these funds will provide additional car seats and expand child passenger safety efforts throughout the Metro Detroit area.
"Child passenger safety starts long before families hit the road—it starts with education," said Benjamin Michajlyszyn, director, Safety Test and Investigation Laboratory (STIL), Hyundai Motor North America. "Through our continued partnership with Children's Hospital of Michigan, we ensure that vital safety resources are readily accessible to families and give them the confidence to make informed decisions that protect their children on every journey."
At the Children's Hospital of Michigan Specialty Center near the main hospital in Detroit, Hyundai and Children's Hospital of Michigan hosted a car seat safety check event. Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians (CPST) educated parents and caregivers on the correct installation and use of car seats. They also performed thorough safety inspections, checking for expiration dates, manufacturer recalls, and proper fit. Families in need of new car seats were provided with free replacements to help ensure their children's safety.
"With the recent changes in Michigan car seat safety laws, it's even more important for families to ensure they have the correct equipment to protect their children," said Renee Zarr, injury prevention coordinator, Children's Hospital of Michigan. "Mainly what we see is car seat installation errors, and sadly we often see the effect of improper safety seat usage on patients arriving at the Children's Hospital of Michigan emergency department. We're thankful for the support of Hyundai and the Children's Foundation in our outreach and education efforts."
"Every child deserves to ride safely, and proper car seats play a crucial role in reducing injury or death by more than 70 percent," said Andrew Stein, president and CEO, Children's Foundation. "With Hyundai's support, we're strengthening prevention efforts that promote the physical well-being of children in our community."
Children's Hospital of Michigan has helped over 160 families and provided nearly 140 car seats since the beginning of its partnership with Hyundai Hope last year.
