About the company

United Utilities Group PLC is a United Kingdom-based water and wastewater company. The Company is engaged in providing water and wastewater services in the Northwest of England. It collects its water from a range of different sources, but predominantly from its reservoirs in the Pennines and the Lake District. It extracts water from Lake Vyrnwy in Wales for customers in Merseyside and Cheshire, while the rest is taken from the River Dee, boreholes and streams. The Company owns and manages over 56,000 hectares of land in England. It helps to protect over 1,300 kilometers (km) of coastline and around 7,000km of rivers flowing across the region. It maintains over 78,000 km of wastewater pipes to transport wastewater from sewers to one of its 566 wastewater treatment works. It maintains over 42,000 km of water pipes and delivers an average of 1.8 billion liters of water each day to 7.4 million people across the North West. Its subsidiaries include United Utilities Water Limited.
